Unqualified locksmiths scamming Aussies

Unqualified locksmiths are fleecing home owners and renters out of big money. By posing as legitimate businesses they are offering services for which they are untrained and unqualified.

“If it sounds too good to be true, it is too good to be true”.

Illegitimate businesses are advertising a call-out fee of just $45 on-line.  This entices desperate clients who are locked out. But unqualified untrained people are ruining the clients’ locks. The final bill can be $400-$500 to rectify.

It is believed to be part of a worldwide scam. There are peak bodies such as the Master Locksmiths Association of Australasia and the Locksmiths Guild of Australia which have websites that can be used to verify that their locksmith is a member. The impact on legitimate locksmith businesses is not only the loss of business but also being tarred with the same brush.
